V-Weight – 7lb We pour these v-weights in house. The weights are in the rough form. What this means is the sides are rough finish. You can clean them up with a scotch brite pad or just leave them the way they are. The bolt holes might need to be widened a little bit if you are using thicker nuts. All these items are easy modifications that take just a few minutes. They are perfectly useable the way they come for most setups. I personally recommend leaving the finish the way it is. It is lead so anytime it gets dropped it is going to get dinged so why put any extra effort out.

I asked John to craft a 5-lb V-weight and a 7-lb V-weight for our OMS double tank configurations, which we dive in fresh water caves, and to split the 7-lb weight into 4 lb and 3 lb half weights. In addition to pouring the lead, John alloyed the weights with another metal to make them sturdier and finished the weights' ends. The resulting weights were quite well done; the extra effort was appreciated.
