Product Description
30# Mach V OxyCheq Wing – Red Single Tanks – “O” Shape Red Version This is the OxyCheq 30lb Mach V wing. This is great versatile single tank wing that is handy for warm water and some cold water diving. This is a “O” Shaped Wings for Single Tanks Only. The extremely low profile produces less drag in the water. The Mach V has integrated role control devices eliminating the need for a single tank adaptor. Inflator hose elbow is off center so it will not interfere with the first stage regulator. Complete with roll control so you will not have to use an STA (Single Tank Adaptor) with a OxyCheq backplate. Easy access to bladder via a 360 degree zipper.

Wonderful to dive with
Posted by Patrick on 24th Aug 2014
Having dived with a Mares BCD for years, I decided that it was time to consider a backplate + wing set-up. I tried the Mach V wing in a pool first, and was immediately convinced. Ordering through NE scuba was a breeze, and though there was a bit of trouble with the international shipping rate coming out too high, John was very quick in responding and sending me a refund.
I recently tried the wing more extensively during a diving trip to Bali. My set-up is now the Mach V with the Oxycheq ultralite travel plate and a simple Hogarthian harness, and we were diving down to about 30 m in moderate to strong currents, including drift diving. I only needed 2 kg of lead, so I strapped two pieces to the top-most cam band. It is simply wonderful to dive with this new set-up compared to a BCD: buoyancy and trim are excellent, and I now feel totally uncluttered. On discussion-threads about the Mach V + ultralite plate, some divers voiced concern about the cylinder possibly being rather floppy without a single-tank adapter, but I have not found that to be the case at all: the wing is supposed to be specially constructed so as not to need an STA, and I always felt that the cylinder was perfectly secure and in no way flopping about. The set-up quite simply feels like a part of me in a way that my BCD tended not to (admittedly, the BCD turned out to be too large for me when diving in a 3-mm wetsuit, rather than in a bulky dry suit and carrying lots of integrated weights).
Construction-wise, the Mach V makes an extremely sturdy impression. I also like the fact that you can easily unzip the outer cover to see the inner bladder.
Finally, my new set-up is wonderfully light and takes up very little space in my luggage compared to the BCD. It packs down very flat, so it's really great for travel.
The only thing I don't like so much is that there is no in-built vent where the inflator hose connects to the wing. On my BCD, pulling on the inflator hose was the easiest way of dumping air, and I'd got rather used to that. Since the wing does indeed do an excellent job of keeping me horizontal, relying almost exclusively on the left-hand rear valve is actually not really a problem, but I still find it a bit of a faff compared to the ease of a quick tug on the inflator hose. But given how much I love this set-up in all other respects, this is a feature I am glad to give up!
