After a year of usage and a couple of hundred dives I thought I'd update my earlier review. You'll see I have given it 5 full stars! The Remora is a little worse for wear but has held up well. I recommend splitting the connection at the end of the day and washing each piece separately in fresh water to avoid a build up of oxidization but even after a couple of hundred dives it is still going well and the nut hasn't worked lose again and the separation under load is greatly improved by using a small amount of marine grease. The pin that I thought was a bit on the skinny side has been just fine so I would recommend this without any reservation.
I am a divemaster and bought one of these to mount a stage cylinder on my main tank. The system secures the tank firmly in place avoiding the annoying flopping around that webbing straps can sometimes give you. It is really easy to lock and unlock the two halves of the ramora when it is in your hands but when it is attched to two cylinders and is then under load, it can be a bit fiddly - but this may just be a case of getting used to it. The locking pin looks very delicate and I wonder about its longer term durability. Also the nut securing the locking pin did work loose on mine but I tightened it up and since then have not had a problem. So far so good. If they are going to make a version 2 of this then it might be an idea to beef the locking pin up a bit just for peice of mind. I am sure that the engineers will tell you its fine but I'd like something a bit beefier. I would also like some inserts to allow it to be used with smaller cylinders down to say 4" and even 2" so that I could mount the battery canister for my torch to my main tank. Overall a nice peice of kit and I will probably get another. By the Way I got good service from Northeast SCUBA Supplies even though I I live Down Under in Australia Thanks!
