Uplines - Powder Coated
Aluminum Uplines – Powder Coated
This is our aluminum upline page. Uplines are used for emergency ascents. Uplines allow are commonly stored with the lift bag or marker bag already attached to them. All you have to do then is just unhook the upline from your tanks and shoot the bag. You have much more control with a upline over a finger spool. All our uplines are powder coated. Powder coating protects the upline from corrosion. Powder coating is far superior to painting. It is harder and makes a protective shell. The uplines are built in house and can be powder pretty much any color you like.
Note on Upline Size: The upline pictured here are low profile these are not the old school monster that you see used all the time. These uplines are only 3” in diameter. The lengths vary from 13” to 21” inches depending on how big of one you want.

Nylon versus Sisal
Nylon line is the new version of uplines coming out today. The purist will tell you that sisal is preffered as it rots on the bottom. The problem of course with this is that it also rots on your spool so you loose tensile strength and risk having it break. Nylon line commonly used is 1/8” it is still easy to hold but does not require a large reel.
Sisal line also called hemp is what was used on dive boats for years. It is easier to hold onto and degrades on the bottom. The problem with sisal is that it rots out. You average old school upline reel of years past was huge and held 400 feet or more of sisal. The new ones we are making do resolve the rot factor somewhat. The line still rots the same but by making the reels so they only hold 200 feet they dry quicker which helps keep the degrading down. The other thing is that if you use the reel a couple of times a year you have to replace the inexpensive line every time or every other time you shoot a bag so the line does not get a chance to get old.
